Head Media Genie
I have a zest for life, a knack for connecting unique people
and a thirst for creative storytelling - especially ones that move people to action.
I also love love love small businesses and the rockstars who run them.
My story begins as an intern at Mtv News - crazy fun times back in the day when they still aired videos.
After that it was on to NBC as a page working on shows like "Saturday Night Live", "The Rosie O'Donnell Show"
and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien".
Using Tom Brokaw's desk for my on-air demo reel, I landed my first reporting gig in sunny New Bern, NC and actually flew with the Blue Angels.....and um got sick!
Eventually, I navigated my way up the east coast settling in upstate NY where I positioned myself as a lifestyle reporter/anchor and produced a host of franchises from fashion and food to local authors and not-for-profits.
Here, I had the pleasure of interviewing a young unknown artist from my hometown in Hendersonville, Tennessee...
someone named Taylor Swift.
Fast forward - my entrepreneurial spirit kicked in and I left news to launch my own PR/Marketing/Event company, KKiMedia.
I had a laser focus on marrying non-profits with the regional business community for multi-media campaigns and events -
raising big dollars for the organizations and instant foot traffic for the Mom + Pop businesses.
When the economy took a nose-dive, I relocated to the DMV area
to work on a woman-owned start-up media company.
There, I created big savvy marketing projects and produced web vignettes for small businesses.
I also launched the DC chapter of Femfessionals, a robust networking organization for the modern business women.
We produced unique monthly events with speakers ranging from breast cancer survivors
to "DC's Top Dominatrix" and everything in between.
I'm thrilled to take more than 15 years experience in television production, marketing and event planning
and harness them into Studio 384 in the nation's capital.
I'm a proud mentor of Empowered Women International and a member of Arlington Independent Media,
Women in Film & Video, Femfessionals DC and Women in Cable Telecommunications.
